Finding a new club… a look at some of my opposition reports
Two years in the game writing opposition reports, and with pre-season about to start, I’m still baffled by the business of non-league football. Then again, I am now getting some firsthand experience.
After spending most of last season at Step 3, I ended the year about to step up to National League South, which was all very exciting. But after that option suddenly fell through I find myself “moving on” and looking for a new club.
The original version of this blog post went on a bit about what that’s like. But to get to the point I’m looking for a new club.
Below you’ll find some examples of my work. These are opposition reports from the 35 I put together for Margate FC last season.
You can find PDFs of each opposition report in the links below. Or go to the shared Google Drive where you can find them all.
Folkestone Invicta (vs Merstham – December 2021). Managed by Neil Cugley.
Enfield Town (vs Bowers & Pitsea – January 2022). Managed by Any Leese.
Leatherhead (vs Bishop’s Stortford – January 2022). Under new manager Luke Tuffs.
Lewes (vs East Thurrock United – February 2022). Managed by Tony Russell.
Worthing (vs Lewes – March 2022). Managed by Andy Hinshelwood.
Dartford (vs Havant & Waterlooville – March 2022). Managed by Steve King.
They might just be fun to browse even if your name doesn’t start with “Jose” and end with “Mourinho”. And if you have any thoughts, especially what’s missing, I’d love to read your feedback in the comments. Spelling mistakes not so much.
