Need help to improve your opposition scouting?

Getting feedback on reports is vital if you want to improve, but it can be hard to find..

I was desperate for a mentor when I was starting out.

I did have help. And I learned a lot from one or two key people. But they weren’t always in a position to give direct feedback (at least not without me feeling a bit cheeky).

Not only do you need feedback, but you need to make sure it’s good feedback.

But I know from experience that getting feedback on your work is one of the best ways to learn anything. If you only count on your own experience you’ll struggle to improve. Or worse, you’ll think you are improving and will get over-confident. If you want to see how badly that turns out you can read my own slightly humiliating example.

I should be clear, my status as a scout is still modest. I’m not professional. I’m no Premier League analyst. I’m not a coach and I don’t know how to set up a training drill.

But I do have some experience in non-league opposition scouting. I might be able to help you if you’re starting out or just need a second opinion on a report. That goes for whether you’re already in the game at some level, or still trying to join a club.

So if you need some feedback, and don’t mind me taking a look, I’d love to hear from you.
